It started with the USA TODAY bestseller If I Run. Now Casey’s journey continues in If I’m Found.
Casey doesn’t know why Dylan let her escape just as the police were closing in, but she knows she’s got to hide again. New name, new look, new city, new job.
But hiding isn’t enough. Somehow, she’s got to bring Brent’s killer to justice. Can she gather enough evidence without getting caught? And even though she wants to trust Dylan, can she really?
When they go after her sister, Casey knows her time is running short. Turning herself in presents its own set of problems but if it will help protect Hannah, she’ll gladly do it—but will it?
Master suspense writer Terri Blackstock keeps readers entranced in part two of her new USA TODAY bestselling series.
Terri Blackstock’s newest crime series gives readers enough thrills and anticipation they won’t be able to set them down until they reach the end.
Wow! That’s what I said to myself when I finished reading the first book in Terri Blackstock’s newest series If I Run. And when I found this second book If I’m Found, I couldn’t get it on my available reads list fast enough. I have always enjoyed Ms. Blackstock’s style of writing in her past works, but this series just has something I’ve not read in her others – a palpable terror for the heroine and hero of the series, Casey Cox and Dylan Roberts. By using an alternating first person style of writing, readers are drawn in to the plot very quickly and effectively. And the action passages are quick paced with enough anxiety to make the almost capture scenes extremely real for all readers. If I’m Found is the second book in the If I Run series and finds Casey back on the road after having helped a girl escape people who held her captive for 2 years. She is still running from the Shreveport detectives who want to see her dead but has found a new ally in Dylan Roberts, the PI hired to find her. After finding more and more evidence that the detectives in charge of Casey’s case are dirty cops who murder anyone who talks about their dealings, Dylan is convinced Casey is innocent of the killing with which she’s been charged. But he knows he can’t tip his hand just yet or they’ll never be convicted of all their crimes. So he sets to work compiling all the evidence others have gathered in the past, seeking a verifiable trail of their extortion, money laundering and murders that will ensure all those involved will never again see the outside of a jail cell. The hearsay evidence he already found is not enough to bring formal charges so Dylan and Casey will have to find concrete evidence to prove the truth they already know. The question is whether they can gather enough evidence before the detectives find Casey? Ms. Blackstock has created such real characters that I was completely engaged in their story the entirety of the book. I stayed up way too late the night I got this book to read it to the end because I HAD TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED! I often found myself gasping and holding my breath over whether Casey would escape and felt ridiculous amounts of relief when she did. And Casey’s desperate search for peace and a belief in God is written in such a heartfelt and meaningful way as to make me almost begin to pray for this fictional character’s salvation. She has never had a real reason for faith before but has seen the hand of God throughout her weeks of hiding and knows that He cares what happens to her. Ms. Blackstock has Dylan further confirm her slow growing faith as he reminds her that God is using her to bring justice for her father, her friend and two others whose lives were lost in this battle against evil men. Dylan’s faith is challenged as well throughout the book as he tries to understand the immense testing God seems to be putting both of them through. But he is learning that testing proves to be purifying and they will be stronger on the other side of their battles. And to see a new, tenuous love begin to blossom between Dylan and Casey is such a great sub-plot to this story. Reader’s hearts will break along with Casey and Dylan’s as they see that any chance at relationship is completely dependent on whether Casey’s innocence can be proven in time. The final installment of this series comes out early 2018 and I almost cannot wait to see what Ms. Blackstock has in store for Casey and Dylan. I will most definitely add copies to my shelves and recommend them to my friends and family.
